We hope your Thanksgiving was wonderfully rich with friends, family, and gratitude. Today I’m so happy to share a project that we have been working on for our dear friends, the Bolitho family. As artists, we love to create, but we love it even more when we get to be a part of the beautiful stories that people are telling with their lives. We want to support those who are pursuing dreams, taking risks, and filling the world with goodness and hope.
Our friends Ryan and Stacia have hearts that overflow love. The kind of love that would make such a difference in the life a child who needs a good family. As they open their hearts and go forward with this adoption journey, the financial cost is great, but money never stands in the way of love.
Below is a message from them.
Hi! We're the Bolitho's, Ryan, Stacia, and Silas.
If you are here because you received a Christmas card, please allow me to introduce our family. Ryan and I met in San Diego while working for a non-profit called Invisible Children. We married in 2008, moved to small town Colorado and our son Silas was born in September of the following year. Ryan works in computer technology and I am a music & theatre teacher at a private school, where Silas attends pre-school 2 days a week. On his 2nd birthday this year, we began to pray about adding to our family. We know we are being led to adopt and feel fortunate to be surrounded by a supportive community. While it is a humbling experience to ask for money, we believe in the African proverb "It takes a village to raise a child" so we are asking you, our village, to help us bring our son home. Believing in Psalm 68:6 “God sets the solitary in families.”
This adoption will cost around $20,000. We are daunted by this sum, because we will need to have the money up front. However, we know that God is bigger than finances, so we are trusting that He will provide one dollar at a time. The first amount we are hoping to raise is $4,000 to cover the cost of our home study. We would be amiss if we didn’t ask for help from those in our extended community, who may be willing to donate to get us one step closer to our son – and no amount is too small! Our plan is to apply for as many grants as possible and pray that doors will open for the money to come.
If you are unable to give monetarily, we would greatly appreciate your prayers and help by spreading the word about our Christmas card fundraiser with our friends Matt and Olivia from Furthermore Creative through facebook, twitter, blogs, and e-mail.
Above all, thank you and Merry Christmas,
The Bolithos
We created this Christmas card especially for this occasion. A reminder of the reason we celebrate and the joy that children bring, the message reads, Unto us a child is born. The inside is left blank, because you don’t need our words, when you have your own. The design is in traditional Christmas colors, but done in a modern way. It is printed on professional grade card stock, the same quality you would find in stores and will come with an envelope.
There is a note on the back of each card, saying that all proceeds from this card go to the Bolitho adoption, along with a link to our website. So whoever receives these cards will be able to learn about this cause.
For every $5 donation, you will receive one card. For $10, you will receive two. And so on. Shipping is included in this cost. All the proceeds with go directly to the Bolithos, we are not collecting any of the funds for ourselves. You can buy cards through the Buy Now button on the left.
Also if you only wish to donate money, you may do so through the Donate button on left.
