Here's the thing, you could go spend an easy thirty dollars at Walmart using one of their designs that doesn't quite match the color and feel of the photo you had to upload to fit some generic family Christmas card like you did last year, and the year before...Or you could order something unique, fun, and completely memorable. Holiday cards don't have to be drab, let us design one specifically for you.

Visit portraitures.etsy.com for more ideas on what type of custom art we offer. I work closely with each client to ensure complete satisfaction. There is no risk, and no payment until the design is agreed upon. The price varies according to the style and design, and whether or not you want us to handle the printing as well, or you wish to do it yourself.  Basic cartoon portraits are $60, and detailed cartoon portraitures are $99 but If you order before November 10th, I am offering a 30% discount on all styles and designs.
Contact us for more information, and let's make this Holiday season a little less drab.

Update 1.2

Hello again.
I was thinking about spending a lot of time in this post discussing with you why we have been so neglectful of this site, and probably creating a list of the many reasons which might deter one from creating new cards inspired by the very love and life that we experience on a daily basis.  Don't worry, I'm not going to do that...Unless you are in fact looking for an apology for our lack of updates...and then we should probably discuss this further.

Anyway, regardless of our silence, I assure you that the wheels have been turning and we are looking forward to creating new cards soon.  Until then, I wanted to show off our latest custom creation.

You remember Carver don't you?  That sweet little boy who we had the privilege to design his "first" birthday card.  A card designed not only to celebrate Carver's first full year of life, but also to thank his birth-mom for giving him that life...
Carver is slightly older, that much cuter, and now the star of his very own Mother's Day card.  Thanks to his parents for commissioning us again to do this....It was a lot of fun, and we love that it went to such a noteworthy cause.

That is all for now.  Check back soon, as we are going to do our best to get something new in our shop soon.

Sweet love cards from Furthermore Creative

And hello there 2012,  it’s been a while since our last update.  We had a great holiday season, lots of trips to the post office, tons of creativity, and then we crashed and did nothing for weeks, well, except take care of our two kids and go to work. So, nothing else.

Remember the Bolitho Christmas card fundraiser?  We are so happy to say that you all came together and bought 50 cards, all the profits went directly to the fund to bring home their son.  We were delighted to be a part of that.

And now, we’re ready for another great year. We’ve added some new art to our other shops, The Saturated Palette and Ephemere Illustrations and we are working on new card designs.

You know, Valentines day is coming up next month and we happen to have some great romantic cards that might be perfect for you.    They aren’t over the top mushy-gushy-lovey-dovey, but just sweet and playful, real life love.

The Bolitho Adoption Fundraiser

We hope your Thanksgiving was wonderfully rich with friends, family, and gratitude.  Today I’m so happy to share a project that we have been working on for our dear friends, the Bolitho family.  As artists, we love to create, but we love it even more when we get to be a part of the beautiful stories that people are telling with their lives.   We want to support those who are pursuing dreams, taking risks, and filling the world with goodness and hope.

Our friends Ryan and Stacia have hearts that overflow love.  The kind of love that would make such a difference in the life a child who needs a good family.  As they open their hearts and go forward with this adoption journey, the financial cost is great, but money never stands in the way of love.

Below is a message from them.

Hi! We're the Bolitho's, Ryan, Stacia, and Silas.

If you are here because you received a Christmas card, please allow me to introduce our family. Ryan and I met in San Diego while working for a non-profit called Invisible Children. We married in 2008, moved to small town Colorado and our son Silas was born in September of the following year. Ryan works in computer technology and I am a music & theatre teacher at a private school, where Silas attends pre-school 2 days a week. On his 2nd birthday this year, we began to pray about adding to our family. We know we are being led to adopt and feel fortunate to be surrounded by a supportive community. While it is a humbling experience to ask for money, we believe in the African proverb "It takes a village to raise a child" so we are asking you, our village, to help us bring our son home. Believing in Psalm 68:6 “God sets the solitary in families.”

This adoption will cost around $20,000. We are daunted by this sum, because we will need to have the money up front. However, we know that God is bigger than finances, so we are trusting that He will provide one dollar at a time.  The first amount we are hoping to raise is $4,000 to cover the cost of our home study. We would be amiss if we didn’t ask for help from those in our extended community, who may be willing to donate to get us one step closer to our son – and no amount is too small! Our plan is to apply for as many grants as possible and pray that doors will open for the money to come.

If you are unable to give monetarily, we would greatly appreciate your prayers and help by spreading the word about our Christmas card fundraiser with our friends Matt and Olivia from Furthermore Creative through facebook, twitter, blogs, and e-mail.

Above all, thank you and Merry Christmas,
The Bolithos

We created this Christmas card especially for this occasion.  A reminder of the reason we celebrate and the joy that children bring, the message reads, Unto us a child is born.  The inside is left blank, because you don’t need our words, when you have your own.  The design is in traditional Christmas colors, but done in a modern way. It is printed on professional grade card stock, the same quality you would find in stores and will come with an envelope.

There is a note on the back of each card, saying that all proceeds from this card go to the Bolitho adoption, along with a link to our website. So whoever receives these cards will be able to learn about this cause.

For every $5 donation, you will receive one card.  For $10, you will receive two.  And so on.  Shipping is included in this cost.  All the proceeds with go directly to the Bolithos, we are not collecting any of the funds for ourselves.  You can buy cards through the Buy Now button on the left.

Also if you only wish to donate money, you may do so through the Donate button on left.

It’s that time of year

Hi, it’s been a while since we updated.  We’ve been sick, food poisoning.  Ugh, let’s just say that we don’t want to see another chicken pot pie, face to face for a while.

We are getting ready for the holidays in the design world, it will certainly help that two of our favorites are releasing Christmas albums next week, She & Him and Michael Buble.  If you are in the no-Christmas-music-before club, then you probably won’t want to be around here starting Tuesday.

We released our first holiday card and we just love it.  It is silly, fun, and playful, filling our hearts with cheer.  We hope it does the same for you.  The inside reads, Merry Christmas, merry us.  It would be the perfect thing to let that special someone know how you feel about them this magical time of year.

Merry Christmas Merry Us Greeting Card

We’re also taking on custom Christmas card designs, if you are looking for card that feels similar to the style you find in our shop, maybe it’s your own family turned cartoon or something completely different.  We’d love to take your idea and make it into a piece of you that arrives in the mailboxes of your family and friends this holiday season. Don’t hesitate to contact us with your questions or ideas.

Are you feeling that holiday cheer yet?  What fun things do you have planned this year?

Stickermule Stickers

Our packaging is pretty basic for shipping cards, people don’t want to pay more than they have to and we like to keep costs low all around.  So, we were delighted to add a little something extra, that would serve as both a tiny bit of art and advertising.

We ordered stickers from Stickermule, a newer site that offers custom sticker designs, laptop skins, and more.  Their walk you through each step and it’s easy to navigate. The only problem is that there are so many options. We spent the longest time narrowing down our selection.  We were sent  a proof within 24 hours and our stickers arrived even sooner than they projected.

We chose our newest design/logo and added our website to the bottom.  This is one of our favorite designs, because it suggests romance, mystery, and adventure, all things we happen to love. And yes, it’s totally Casablanca inspired.

Any design you dream up, they can make it happen. Check out there site here.

P.S.  Started a page on facebook, if you are the kind of person who likes things on facebook.  Find it here.

Caption Contest Winner is…

IMG_1016

This was tough.  There was such a variety of entries, that would take the card in many directions.  Ultimately, the concept that we had for this card was a general celebration of love and adventure, so the winner we choose reflects that. But, you guys came up with some great ones, so let’s share a few honorable mentions.

For the couple who prefers a bit of mischievous,

Are we really going to run through the train station naked?

For the ones who tend toward honesty,

Is it just me or are your hands really sweaty?

and

I wouldn't want to travel the world with anyone else.
(inside) I mean, what other person would be willing to carry my two suitcases and three carry ons?

For those flirty train station flings,

I’m sorry, what’s your name again?

After much deliberation,  the winner is Abi, who said…

Life with you is the adventure.

Thanks for all your entries, the card will be available in the shop this weekend.
